Base One is an AI-native research and proprietary trading firm built around a simple conviction: the way a firm learns should be as carefully engineered as the way it invests.
Intelligence as infrastructure.
Our research desk combines specialist AI agents in business analysis, valuation, quantitative research and independent challenge. A chief of staff coordinates the work; portfolio research synthesises opportunities, while independent risk maintains a separate escalation line to the founder. The founder retains investment decisions and order authority.
AI-first sets the priority. AI-enabled expands what each researcher can investigate. AI-native shapes the firm itself: its workflows, memory, evaluation and feedback loops. Shared research records, versioned methods and a defined learning process connect these responsibilities across the firm.
Continuous intelligence.
Disciplined capital.
Our long-form view on agent research, quantitative strategy and investing through the AI decade.
Read the thesis ↗One firm. Public and private markets.
Our research informs how we deploy our own capital across public securities and private companies, including startups. The principles are shared: understand the business, test the evidence and price the risk. The methods reflect the investment: systematic evaluation for liquid strategies; company diligence, ownership terms and long-term capital planning for private investments.
AI as method and investment outlook.
We use AI to extend our research and investigate the economic transformation it may bring. Our current public-market focus is US-listed businesses across compute, data centres, power, energy and the adoption of cheaper intelligence. The outlook spans five to ten years; each investment has its own valuation, horizon and review conditions. Each opportunity still has to justify its economics, valuation and risks.
